On February 21, a community of young environmentalists, known as Sharp Greenerator, collaborated with Transformasi Hijau (Trashi) and BOS Foundation to mark National Waste Awareness Day. Together, they launched the BOMBASTIK (BOgor Menuju beBAS sampah PlasTIK) campaign during Car-Free Day in Bogor, Indonesia!
More than 40 participants were involved in the campaign, which is aimed to encourage people to reduce plastic bag use, and to raise awareness on the dangers of plastic bags to the environment. Together participants walked down Sudirman boulevard in downtown Bogor, and engaged members of the public who were enjoying the weekly Car-Free Day festivities.
The group, including Otan (our volunteer dressed in an orangutan costume to highlight one of Indonesia’s endemic and critically endangered species), distributed hundreds of free reusable bags and tumblers to the crowd in exchange for their plastic bags and bottles.
“We hope this event helps encourage more people to cut down their daily use of plastic, and raise awareness on the importance of preserving our wildlife and the environment,” Prima, Sharp Greenerator president.
Thanks to all the supporters for marking this important day!
